10 Tips For Relaxation

1. Walk it off – literally. A quick stroll around the block can do wonders for your mental and physical well-being.


2. Take a Break – but Make it Count - Taking a break can be one of the most effective stress relief tips out there. And


3. Listen to a song that you love. Music can be incredibly therapeutic and often gets us out of our heads and into the moment. Put your favorite song on, close your eyes, and let yourself feel the rhythm – it’s almost like an instant massage for your mind!


4. Take a deep breath and count to 10. It sounds too simple to work, but it can be incredibly effective in relieving immediate stress and calming down quickly. Focus on your breath and the counting – this will help ground yourself and bring you back into the present.


5. Laugh out loud – literally! A good belly laugh can do wonders for reducing stress hormones, so make it a point to watch that funny YouTube video you’ve been meaning to check out or call your funniest friend for a quick chat.


6. Play with an animal. Studies have shown that interacting with animals can reduce stress levels significantly, which is why so many offices now have furry four-legged team members! If possible, take a few minutes to cuddle with your pet or find a furry friend in your neighborhood.


7. Do something creative. It doesn’t matter if you’re a master artist or can barely draw a stick figure – create something! Drawing, painting, writing, or even just doodling can help you become more mindful and get out of your head.


8. Take a break from technology. Step away from the phone, laptop and TV for a bit – it can be incredibly refreshing to give our brains some much-needed time off. Put it away and read a book, take a walk in nature, or just sit quietly.


9. Talk to somebody. Talking to someone you trust can help you get things off your chest and gain clarity about what’s bothering you. It doesn’t have to be a long conversation – even just a few minutes of venting can make a big difference.


10. Use positive affirmations. Sometimes, our inner worries and negative self-talk can get the best of us. Counteract this by saying positive affirmations out loud, such as “I am strong and capable” or “I am in control of my life.” Do this for a few minutes each day, and you’ll soon start to believe it!
